Made in Britain Membership
Supporting the local and national economy is something that is close to our hearts. Our products are hand-crafted in our Yorkshire-based workshop, using responsibly sourced materials from the UK. These criteria are part of the eligibility requirements for membership of the Made In Britain scheme, which helps consumers ensure that they are purchasing genuine products that have been officially recognised as being manufactured in Britain, to the highest standards.
BS3882:2015 British Standard for Topsoil Certification
This is the latest version of the 2007 British Standard Specification for Topsoil, which aims to encourage those manufacturing or using topsoil to consider its intended use, ensuring it is fit for purpose.
BioScapes wholeheartedly supports this stance and therefore only uses topsoils that are certified to BS3882:2015.
The topsoil that is included in our product bundles and available to purchase from our website is tested for over 75 substances, including asbestos and other potentially toxic elements, in independent laboratories which are accredited to UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) and MCERTS (Monitoring Certification Scheme). This level of analysis exceeds the levels required to meet British Standard and therefore ensures the soil’s suitability for all applications but in particular for residential home-grown use.
